veggie restaurants in Montreal and Quebec?

I'll be spending a few weeks there, visiting my sister. She lives in Montreal, near the Hampstead area. Any good vegetarian restaurants in that general area, or around McGill?

Same question re Quebec. I'm sure I'll end up at a hostel near the river in/around Old Town, so I'm looking for places in that general area.

Much thanks in advance

I'm not sure there is much in Hampstead, it's fairly residential. There are two places downtown on Rue McKay: Crudessence and La Panthere Verte. The latter also has a location in Mile-End on St-Viateur. Aux Vivres is very popular on St-Laurent and Chu Chai is a super, super, super excellent fake meat Thai restaurant on St-Denis. Le Commensel is a weigh-your-food place with several locations in the city. There are many more so check out Chowhound and Happy Cow. I can personally recommend La Panthere Verte, Aux Vivres, and Chu Chai...all really excellent and I'm not vegeterian...happy eating!

I can't speak for specifically vegetarian restaurants, but I spent time there about 10 months ago and didn't have a problem finding vegetarian food on any menu (save the obvious steak house or places like Le Pied or Chasse et Peche). And I can be picky-I'm now vegan.

Edited by: truenic to add that "there" means Montreal and Quebec City
