artist going to Japan
I'm planning a trip to Japan in November primarily to see the art world there. I'd like to see traditional Japanese art, architecture and plays as well as contemporary. I have two weeks and definitely want to see Kyoto. Can you tell me other cities, museums, galleries, theatres not to miss? Thank you.Edited by: luckysue2

Just a few suggestions from the top of my head:- for ukiyoe, don't miss the Ota Memorial Museum of Art (http://www.ukiyoe-ota-muse.jp/index-E.html) in Harajuku, Tokyo
- the National Museum in Ueno, Tokyo (obviously)
- for modern art, make a sidetrip to Naoshima Island (http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e5475.html)
- catch a play of Kabuki at the Kabukiza in Kyoto
- bring an iPod and a good book when you visit a Noh play
