I know nothing about guesthouses close to the airport, but I flew out of Islamabad airport at a similar time a few years ago, and I just spent the night at the airport, which was totally fine. The airport waiting area has a kind of 3-wall partially-open set-up to it, but there are benches where you can rest and try and catch some sleep, and there were plenty of people and security around when I was there. It was a fairly comfortable experience, as far as sleeping in airports goes. Snacks and drinks at the airport are a little expensive, so you might want to bring your own if you do this. Public transport to the airport runs until late at night: if I remember correctly, I caught a bus there from central Islamabad at 10 or 11 at night. Just a suggestion...2
Thanks Giora - I think Ive found a hotel 5 mins from the airport The Hotel Regent. (1,600 rs/US$17)It was impossible to find any place with reviews or a website so its a shot in the dark! I don't want to take the sleeping-at-airport option as I'm flying to Oman for just a few days and I want to be fully conscious for those days so I will need a good nights sleep before hand!
If it turns out to be ok I'll post a review for future reference.
