a) Does anybody know if you can pick up the visa same day AND is this reliable and can it be done through a travel agent? I don't really want to spend precious time at an embassy.
b) Is there anybody out there who knows how much it costs and how long it takes to get a visa from the embassy in Abu Dhabi (that is my nearest embassy - I don;t live there and the website has nothing)?
c) One thread said you can get a visa in Battambang which I am planning to visit. It is the only time I have heard of this so I assume he was dreaming???
d)Sihanoukville is not possible with my itinerary as I could only get there over a weekend.
On a related subject will I be able to book a bus over this holiday period and will they be running to Saigon on 31st? I understand most things should be open.

2Yep, Battambang has walk-in service, just be sure you get the visa you want. There are stories that the visas issued there are sometimes only for 15 days. The embassy in PP usually has same day service (drop off application 9ish, pick-up visa 4ish) even open half a day on Saturdays. Lots of travel agents in PP can get you a visa in a day or so, even over a holiday.

6Notwithstanding you don't want to waste precious time but you can get a visa while you wait at the embassy in Phnom Penh. I paid a $15 express service charge and received the visa in under half an hour. So you should be able to do this on the Tuesday between the 2 public holidays in October.
You'll be OK for a bus as well.

9Thanks everyone. I think I have it sorted now. I shall try in Battambang and if not then apply myself to getting it in a day in PP. No, I am not flying in so VOA is not applicable and as I say the websitre gives no information about charges for the visa if I send it to Abu Dhabi but I am sure it will be more than an "express charge" in PP. Plus there is the registered post charges and the vagaries of the Middle East mail.
