Airport transfer from Mahe airport?

Dear travellers,

Can anyone give some information about the possibilities to get from the airport to the hotel on Mahe? I have an offer from the travel agency, but I suspect it's pretty pricy.

Thanks

LP's 2010 guide states taxis from SEZ to Victoria cost Rs 200. An online source indicates a taxi from SEZ to Beau Vallon costs about 40-50 €, the same price as a rental car for the whole day!

You can easily hire a private taxi (plentiful at the airport), but expect to pay for it! Average taxi fare from the airport to the northern part of the island is 500 SCR+ ... to get you all the way to the south you're probably looking at around 700scr+.

If you are keen to take the local bus, the bus stop is a 1 minute walk away from the airport. You'd head away from the airport and towards the main road (you will see a petrol station straight ahead)... depending on where you are headed on Mahe, the bus stop will either be on the near or far side of the main road (if I know where you're going, I can give you the specifics - just message me). The bus fare is 5scr, and depending on where you're going it will either be a straight shot, or you will have 1 transfer...

As jc3 stated, it's about the same price to rent a car for the day as a lot of resorts will charge for an airport transfer... If you're comfortable with hitting the road on your own right when you get here it's also possible to setup a car hire to meet you at the airport. When you land just grab a map and hit the road in your own wheels! It's totally do-able, although at night that might not be the best option as the roads are quite narrow and curvy... it'd be fairly easy to get turned around / lost.
