Tour to Calakmul starting from Villahermosa

Hi all, I will fly to Villahermosa on 14Sep late evening. I plan to visit Calakmul, Palenque and then to Flores of Guatemala. I don't have enough time and thus the trip has to be packed. My plan is as follows.

Day 1: Arrive Villahermosa late evening.
Day 2: Day trip to Calakmul and then stay in Palenque
Day 3: Visit Palenque Ruin
Day 4: Go to Flores from Palenque

I would like to know if there is any tour operator in Villahermosa offering day tour to Calakmul.

I will have altogether 3 person travelling. If there is no such operation, how much will it cost to have a cab/car going to Calakmul and then transfer to Palenque?

Thank you in advance in providing advice to me.

I suspect that Villahermosa to Calakmul and back to Palenque might be a bit much for one day.

I agree with #1. That would be a very long trip for one day. It would be very expensive to go to Calakmul by Taxi from Villahermosa. I don't think you will be able to do that in 4 days.

I've been to Calakmul before (and am going again in the Spring) and you really want to spend several hours at the site taking it in. I agree with the others that going from Villahermosa to Calakmul to Palenque is really not realistic. Just the road off 186 to the Calakmul site is close to an hour...add on a mile walk from the welcome center to the ruins and you would not have any time to spend there. The last time I was there, I spent a full 5 hours at the ruins and I still felt like it wasn't enough.

I agree with the above posters.

Just to put things into perspective, going from Villahermosa to Calakmul and then back to Palenque is 836km of traveling - well over 12 hours - so just getting there and back would take up the whole day leaving you without any time to actually see the ruins.

In my opinion, the most realistic way to see everything you want to would be to go to Palenque (day 2), then get to Xpujil the next day (day 3), do Calakmul as a day trip from Xpujil (day 4) and then go to Flores via Belize (day 5). You'd need an extra day, though, and this is still a best case scenario, because you might not be able to get from Xpujil to Flores in one day. (But at least you would have a day each to take in Palenque and Calakmul.)

With the time you have, I don't think Calakmul is doable.

Don't forget if you only have 4 days you won't even be able to go to Flores and make it back. If I was you I would do Palenque and the next day do Yaxchillan and Bonampak. You could do these 3 ruins all from Palenque.
