How long for a trip to Jordan?I am thinking about coming to Jordan for 3 weeks in October. I've been reading guides on the internet and forums - everyone seems to spend 1-2 weeks in Jordan. Is there enough to do for 3 weeks?
I know that many people will tell me this is a silly question - I could come to Jordan for 3 years and still have more to discover! But as a typical tourist, why does everyone only spend a short time in Jordan?
I like hiking, history, scenery, cities... I don't like beaches much but I am sure I would visit the Dead Sea once.

1The reason most people spend one or two weeks in Jordan is simple; most people don't have more than one or two weeks vacation to spend. It has little to do with Jordan.
Between the North (Umm Qais), middle Jordan (Amman, Madaba, Dead Sea, Karak, Dana) and South Jordan (Petra, Wadi Rum, Aqaba) and a hundred other places I didn't mention there's plenty to do.
Others will say why not add a trip to Israel or Egypt and you can do that, but if you want to spend three weeks in a country then do it.

4I think it's because a lot of travellers combine Jordan with Israel and/or Egypt and just spend more time in the other countries.
We are going to Jordan next week and we will be staying 11 full days, which I think is adequate for what we want to do and that even includes two full days at Petra.
With three weeks I would probably spend two in Jordan and one in Israel. Or, depending on where your interests lay, 1.5 in Jordan and 1.5 in Egypt. Up to you :)
