Selecting Routes in California Wine Country

I am starting to plan a bike trip through the California wine country. I don't know anything about the roads in that area, so I am looking for advice on routes that are bike friendly (I don't mind steep hills, but want to avoid aggressive and disrespectful drivers), and routes to avoid.

Thank you!

California has more than one scenic wine district but I assume you mean the Napa & Sonoma County wine areas. They are the most famous and the most crowded areas for biking but still worth it as almost any road other than the main highways are bikeable and easy to connect . Napa & Sonoma are seperated by some great climbs & descents in most places and you can start by riding across the Golden Gate Bridge .
There are also some very scenic wine district bike routes in the Delta, Foothills ,and Paso-Robles areas of Northern & Southern California . Have a great ride.
