Italy - 5-day East or West Coast Road Trip?! Looking For Recommendations :)

Hello!

I'm currently staying with my partner in the very small and beautiful village of Rotella, which is in the Province of Ascoli Piceno, in the Italian region of Marche.

We have spontaneously decided to hire a car tomorrow for 5 days. As yet we are undecided as where to go, but know that we would prefer to stay away from touristy areas, sticking to the coast for most of the trip. We're debating whether or not we stick to the East coast, heading towards Lecce or Sicily, or perhaps cut across to Rome, driving down the West coast. We have heard there are many beautiful National Parks, which we would possibly like to take in, although we realise we can't do everything in 5 days!

We're proper foodies and are very much into secluded cove-like beaches, so any beach/restaurant and accommodation suggestions would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance and happy holidays to you all!

:)

Secluded beaches in Italy do not really exist especially in August in fact most of Italy is full in August. I would maybe head into Abruzzo or Umbria likely to be quieter and has some great national parks, places like Todi, Narni amd Amelia are getting themselves a great name for superb food. I would personally avoid driving this weekend if I didn't have too it will very busy especially along the coast and on the motorways

Southeastern Sicily has many beaches, some of them quite tacky, but Marina di Ragusa is the best one to my mind:)
Lido Mazzarò is the best-equipped beach over there.
:)
As you don't want to see crowds then Ostia Beach will not fit you, thus you can enjoy Nettuno or Anzio =)

have a nice trip!

As richiavo says.secluded beaches.....in Italy...in August....very difficult!

It will be much quieter in the mountains and the inland national parks.

If you decide to go down the East Coast, the area around Lecce is very nice but also full of (mainly Italian)tourists.I certainly wouldn't try to get to Sicily in that time limit....you would have to drive non-stop and then turn around and drive non-stop back to Ascoli.......
