What to do in Bishop, CA?

What is there to do in Bishop CA on a Sunday afternoon /evening? We will be three guys stopping off there as part of a road trip around California and I'm keen to find out how we can fill our time on this stop off before heading into Death Valley the next day.
Thanks in advance

Visit Mountain Light Photography's gallery in town - amazing pictures of the Eastern Sierras and other places around the world. Definitely worth an hour or so to stop in, even if you aren't a photo junky.

And/or...

Drive south of Bishop a bit and head up to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. Allow about an hour each way, plus a couple hours up top.

Tank down some excelent sweet buns and breads a the Bishop bakerey. Head to to Whitney Portal and hike around the boulder fields before you reach the timberline. The Bristlecone Pine idea is a good one (4,000 year-old trees) but that will be a four-hour trip at least. Then of course there is the bar (should've listed that first).

Oh, there is a pretty good skate board park in the park by the Holiday Inn Express.

That's Schat's. A great place for breakfast. While waiting, look around. They have an amazing collection of American Indian baskets.

Mountain LIght is the gallery of the late Galen Rowell.

-Drive up to South Lake for good mountain scenery.

Sidetrips further south, on your way to DV (time permitting) incloude the Manzanar National Historic Site, and the Alabama Hills (very scenic, where many Westerns were filmed). Ancient Bristlecone forest, east of Big Pine, very scenic, but more time-consuming.

Keough's Hotsprings. Railroad Museum. Check out the murals that are all around town. Dine at Jack's Waffle shop. Farther south look for the plaque about the filming of Gunga Din in the Alabama Foothills not to mention: http://www.eugenecarsey.com/camp/alabamahills/movies.htm
