Travelling to Oz on my own for 6 weeksHi
I am 31 and have decided to take a leap of faith and travel on my own to Australia on the 18th of December for 6 weeks. I am looking for any advice on how to make the most out of my 6 weeks. It would be great to know what parts of Oz I should be looking at, at that time of the year. I have been looking at Sydney, Cairns & Perth and possible New Zealand if there was enough time.
I am flying out just before Xmas so I have researched some sights like Ozibntro.com in Sydney who offer to take care of everything on your 1st week to Oz, they take you out on excursions, sight seeing, pub crawls etc. I suppose I just want to make sure that i'm not spending Xmas and New Year on my own lol . Any advice on good hostels or better ways to mingle without these types of companies been involved would be brilliant. :-)

1you need to find somewhere to stay in Sydney NOW, it may already be too late.
wrong time of year for Cairns. Perth is a great spot but the best bits are the tall trees country to the south. Perhaps consider the great ocean road and moving on to Adelaide.
A minimal tour of NZ is three weeks so you don't really have time for both.
