Overlanding Africa Tour Review
Hello all!I am planning on doing a 42 day overland tour in Africa through the Overlanding Africa travel co. This will be my first time traveling by myself and I would really appreciate any reviews on this travel group. I chose this tour because they have some extras that I am really interested in including skydiving, elephant riding, snorkeling, and similar activities. Does anyone recommend this group and if not why not and is there another group that has a similar trip? Thank you very much!!
This is the trip I am planning on going on

Hi ElleK89I booked a trip with Overlanding Africa.com and they were awesome. I did a portion of the trip you're looking to do. As far as I know, the crew who were on the overland trip with me are still working the same route, so you can expect to meet Li - your awesome tour leader who helped us track and spot leopard! Then your truck driver is Wes - he's a total sweet pea. He travels with his guitar and strums awesome classics around the campfire while everyone chats, eats and chills. Then there is the cook - Suzanne. She is an absolute God send I tell you. Her cooking is from heaven. Hawaiian burgers, shepards pie and the most yummy french toast I've ever tasted! We never ate the same meal on our two week trip from Swakopmund to Victoria Falls (a leg of your overall Cape to Nairobi excursion).
I did the elephant ride you are keen to do - wow it was absolutely beautiful. Definitely something that was on my bucket list that I fulfilled.
I see that in your trip the Chobe National Park sleepout is included as well as the Chobe National Park boat cruise. Those were both SUCH highlights on my trip. In the two weeks my boyfriend and I were on safari we saw soooo many animals in Chobe - you'll see that in my photos!
I must recommend the excursion into the Okavango Delta - wow - wow - wow. You'll miss out if you don't get to experience riding through the lush waterways of the Okavango Delta. At night we even heard lions roaring on the island opposite us. It was stunning.
Definite thumbs up for Overlanding Africa.com
Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Overlanding Africa seems to be just an agency that books overland trips run by different companies.I'd recommend you find out which company runs the particular trip you're interested in and look for reviews of them. All the agency does is sell you the trip.

Dinxster, I always get very suspicious when I see a first-time poster giving such a glowing report of a company. You have joined ThornTree to-day apparently specifically to promote Overlanding Africa, What connection do you have with them?7
Hi guysI just created my profile today and updated all my details for everyone to see if you haven't seen them already.
Yes, Overlanding Africa is a booking agent - the website is very open about that. I did say that I booked the trip with Overlanding Africa - I didn't mean to make it sound like I travelled on an 'Overlanding Africa truck'.
I honestly went on the Swakopmund to Victoria Falls leg in June. Here is the link to my trip photos I posted in my personal account on Facebook: http://tinyurl.com/9nhkqrf
All I wanted to give was an honest review traveller to traveller.
I'm really sorry if it didn't come across as sincere.
Whoever you choose to travel with - no doubt you'll have a blast.

I travelled with Africa Travel Co for my second solo visit to Africa in 2004 and had a great time. I'm still in contact with the cook, driver and a lot of the other passengers. I did two subsequent trips with them also, the most recent being in 2008. From my experience I would recommend them though, of course, my trips weren't particularly recent. Good luck!ADVERTISEMENT
