3,5 weeks in Radjastan - intinerary & hotel questionsHi,
we finally manage to put our itinerary together, and would like to know if its possible to do (car & driver) or what we should change?
Nov 12 - Arrive Delhi
Nov 13 - Delhi- Shekhawati
Nov 14 - Shekhawati
Nov 15 - Shekhawati - Bikaner
Nov 16 - Bikaner
Nov 17 - Bikaner - Jaisalmer
Nov 18 - Jaisalmer
Nov 19 - Jaisalmer (Camel Safari)
Nov 20 - Jaisalmer - ?
Nov 21 - ?- Pushkar
Nov 22 - Pushkar
Nov 23 - Pushkar - Jodhpur
Nov 24 - Jodhpur
Nov 25 - Jodhpur - Ranakpur
Nov 26 - Ranakpur - Udaipur
Nov 27 - Udaipur
Nov 28 - Udaipur-Chittorgaht-
Nov 29 - Chittorgaht- Bundi
Nov 30 - Bundi - N.P.
Dec 1 - N.P.
Dec 2 - N.P. - Jaipur
Dec 3 - Jaipur
Dec 4 - Jaipur - Agra
Dec 5 - Agra-Delhi
Dec 6 - Deli
Dec 7 - Delhi depart
1. If the NP are still closed for tourist, what would you recommand to do instead? Adding Orchha at the end or simply staying a few more days around?
2. We want to head from Jaisalmer to Pushkar - so we can make it to the first days of the camel fair - a nice spot to stay overnight, if we don't want to stop first at Jodhpur?
3. Welcome recommands of nice heritage or castle hotels, which aren't to expensive (we would splash out 7000 to 8000 for a one in your life time experience) and normal more on a budget with 2500 per room & night.
Thanks a lot

1Try to get to Nawalgarh when you're in Shekawati..quite an atmospheric place. I enjoyed Mandawa and Jhunjhunu too.
If you can, do include a trip to Temple of the Sacred Rats at Deshnok 30kms south of Bikaner..fascinating.
I have heard many recommendations for the Camel Man at Bikaner (excellent place to stay too...good home cooked meals)..less touristy and better value than in Jaisalmer.
NB that non-Jains are only admitted to the Ranakpur temples from 12 noon to 4pm. dress modestly including no shorts for men, or you will be required to hire overtrousers.
Ranakpur lunch tip. Just back from the temples towards the main gate is a canteen serving delicious and super cheap refillable thali meals..just ask directions.
Accommodation in Ranakpur seems to be limited if you get stuck there. The cheapest I found was Shivika Lodge about 2 kms before the temples on the road from Jodphur.
Kumbhalgarh near Ranakpur has an impressive fort. If time you can trek back down through the jungle to Ranakpur.
I prefer Jodphur to Jaipur (worth seeing iconic Jaipur Pink Palace though). Mehrangarh Fort in Jodphur was one of the best I saw.
I went to Orchha about 12 years ago. You can stay in the palace there reasonably cheaply I recall. Lots of mystical ambience...mainly because my visit coincided with a rare festival.
If you're going to Orchha you may as well try to combine it with Khajuraho.
On your way back to Delhi, call in at the Hare Khrishna HQ in Vrindavan...but get there before the morning chanting session ends. Quite an ecstatic scene...good food in restaurant too.

3You are planning to spend 24 days, oerniting in 14/15 places because you are trying to cram two trips into one.
It's always the same advice - dont try to do too much and anything like Shekwati and Bikaner, maybe Pushkar, leave for another trip.
Like Mango5, I thoroughly enjoyed Shakwati also this year, but it really is a side visit which needs to be indulged in, as is Bikaner and surroundings.
You are also going backwards and forwards eg the logical destination after Jjaiselmer is Udaipur via Jodhpur.
Udaipur really has one way in and out! BUT it is a must-see in Rajesthan and area.
May i suggest that you arrange the trip as follows, keeping your major points of interest
Agra (inc Faltehpur Sukri)
Then train to Jaiselmer (there is an excellently timed one at 23.00 but starting in JOD_
Jaisemer - keep your smelly camel safari to one day- it may sound nice sleeping under the stars near a bloody camel but it's cold and 6/8 hours with these beasts is enough.
Delhi - do your sightseeing at end of trip.
As for hotels - dont book too far ahead - your itinerary will change BUT my subjective view
Obviously Pahar Janj Area in Delhi
Taj Ganj in Agra - maybe Hotel Sheela
Pearl Palace or Aryas Niwas in Jaipur
One of the havelis in Lal Ghat, Udaipur.
Just phone ahead 24 hours before arrival.
Have a great trip but dont try doin too much.
