The urban choice isn't so broad there: in the northern part of Maramures there's just one city (Sighetu Marmatiei) and two towns (Viseu de Sus and Borsa).
You could try Viseu de Sus, but if you need to be in an actual city go for Sighetu Marmatiei.

I am trying to confirm if the bus from Tirgu Mures to Sighetu Marmatiei is still operating from this page _http://www.autogari.ro/Transport/Targu_Mures-Sighetu_Marmatiei_, but I cannot. The page say that there is a bus at 14.00 from Tirgu Mures, do you know where can I write to be sure about it ?
Another thing, I am trying to reserve in Cobwebs hostel, but the web page does not work, do you know if they have change the page ?

Hi,

If you want to base yourself in a city, Sighet is your best option. Otherwise you can stay in one of the many villages. It doesn't matter to much, as you are dependent on minibuses and hitch hiking (a lot of time the fastest option). The train can only bring you to some of the villages in the north, which are nice, but are not part of the 'famous' villages like Budesti, Botiza, Poieneli Izei, Breb, Sarbi etc.

As far as i know, that bus is not running anymore. If you click on the yellow question mark behind that bus on autogari.ro, you will get the contact details from the bus company.

Cobwobs probably has some difficulties with their website. You can also book at them through hostelworld.com.

The problem with Cobwebs is that I need to know sure if we can arrive on the same day to Sighetu Marmatiei, I know we can reserve in Hostelworld, but I don't still know if there is a transport from Tirgu Mures.
That is why I was trying to book the hotel with them and ask the way to arrive.

yes sorry i missed this one the hostel is open and the web site doesnt work but there is a facebook page. The reason the web page doesnt work is we had a bit of internet trouble from the other hostel in Sighet. I dont think the bus runs anymore in fact i dont think it has run for over a year.Theres no easy option around getting here from Tirgu Mures you can try bus to cluj then on to Sighet but its about eight hours. You could try bus to Bistrita and then taxi to salva and then by train to Sighet but again not easy. I have suggested hitching the road from Nassau to Borsa but its very quiet and you could easily get stuck for a night. Anyway i am sending you my email address in case it helps.
