Where to go for a week from Kolkata?
Hi guysMy boyfriend and I are going to Kolkata at the beginning of November to see some family. We'll have around 8 days to go off and do some exploring. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go? Originally we were thinking of flying down to Kerala but are concerned it may be a long way to go for a week. Any suggestions would be very welcome!

Darjeeling or Sikkim or go to Puri/Kanark or Gobalpur-on-Sea.4
Why not go to Bubaneshwar,Puri and Chilka lake . Otherwise flying to Kerala is just as good.5
Thanks for all your replies everyone, it's really appreciated!It's good to hear that you think flying down to Kerala is a doable option - the only thing that put as off is that it's 2 flights at around 4 hours (minimum) from Kolkata, but I suppose we'd be travelling quite a few hours whatever we decided to do?

Eeja - it wouldn't take the same time, but the differences wouldn't be too great:Longer options:-
Allepey is an hour's drive from Cochin, all together it takes five and a half odd hours in Kerala.
Sikkim is a 1 hr flight plus 7 hrs drive
Shorter options:-
Kaziranga is a 1 hr 20 min flight plus 1.5-2 hrs drive from Jorhat.
Konark / Puri: 1 hr flight + 45 min - 1 hr drive to Konark.
So, options in Orissa and Assam take less time, though for me a difference of three hours one way would not swing a deal. Depends on what you'd like to see. If you like the Himalayas, then 5 hours or 15 hours, Sikkim is the only option here.
