Subway/train/railpass

Dear travellers !

Im leaving for Tokyo the 20th of september, i will be staying there for a week then travel to Kyoto etc.

There are soooo many different railpasses. Which one should i get?
I Would be so happy for an answer!!

The only way people can help you is if they know your itinerary...

That said, probably the regular JR pass to use as you leave Tokyo.
But it depends on your route and timeframe.

You can price individual legs on the Shinkansen on hyperdia.com

Buses are also an option.

As Tokyo girl writes, tell us about your itinerary in detail and whether you are looking for the absolutely lowest cost (which usually means highway buses,) or whether you prefer comfort (i.e. trains).

You should also consider whether it's even worth it to buy a train pass or just buy regular tickets. Traveling long distances by train and especially using shinkansen is expensive but local/rapid trains for example between Osaka and Kyoto are very cheap.
