Tips for work in SE Asia?

I am trying to fund the remainder of my RTW trip but have made it only from home (NYC) to Melbourne before running low on cash. I am 31, hold a US passport and therefore ineligible for all of the holiday visas I've seen and finding cash work in Oz is proving more difficult than I anticipated. I have extensive bartending experience in NYC which is pretty well-regarded from those I've spoken to. Bartending is what I'm used to but I'll do anything that doesn't require specialized skills

I'm open to going pretty much anywhere that pays a decent wage without too many hoops, anywhere in SE Asia, even South Africa or Japan (I imagine wages there are decent but I speak only English...). I'd like to be able to put away $500 USD per week, so somewhere tipping is customary might be better for cash work.

Thanks guys

I imagine you could find work fairly easily in Melbourne and surrounds as long as you're not picky and you have a work visa. Do you have a work visa?

Just realised you don't have a visa. Perhaps you should go home and work for a while before continuing your travels

A job where you could even make $500 a week is totally unrealistic.

Wow, a job paying $500+ per week? That sounds amazing. I want one too. Can't wait to hear where you end up working!
Let us know how it goes.

Good Luck!

Your lack of a work visa is the real problem in finding work in Australia (or NZ). In SE Asia, the problem isn't so much the lack of the visa, as the poverty of the general population which means that unless you have skills that the locals don't have (and it seems you don't), then you won't get a high paying job.

I think you are stuck with returning to where you can work legally, and then continuing your travels. Sorry!

Not necessarily stupid updown, but certainly naive.
