Touring Brittany, France

Hi all,

Has anyone done a bike tour in Bretagne (Brittany), France? I am heading there on Saturday for a week. I live in Paris but know very little about the area (apart from maps and my guidebook).

Starting in Vannes and then heading along the coast. With a friend for three days then doing the rest of the time solo (my first solo touring). Any recommendations of places to see/go? Anyone else out on the road there next week?

Cheers,
Mike

Years ago when the kids were kids and the wife & I were still a young couple we cycled the canal paths of Brittany, from Roscoff, stayed near Pont-Aven and ended in Saint Nazaire. We then took the train to Brest and cycled back to Roscoff to catch the ferry - a fantastic holiday. Put a basket on your bike to carry the wine, baguette & cheese for lunch. We stayed in small hotels or B&B and never had a problem finding a place even in August. Enjoy.

I also liked riding minor roads of Brittany on last year's Paris-Brest-Paris. See the
PBP itinerrary (La randonee/La route)

Stay off the red roads on the Michelin maps (N highways) and you'll be fine. France is the best country in Europe to bike tour! USually every town has a tourist office and municipal campground.
