Best Francophone country with a baby

Hi,

I want to pay another trip to Africa and improve my French at the same time. So I thought I'd visit a Francophone country. I was thinking about Senegal. This will be at the end of March next year.

My sister wants to join me with her baby. She lives in Ethiopia and I've spent a few months in East Africa before, so neither of us are Africa virgins, but with a year old baby in tow we probably won't want to be hiking up mountains.

Safe beaches are good, as is a reasonable infrastructure, but not spending my time with English speaking tourists in all inclusive resorts.

A scan on here seems that Cameroon also seems to be popular. What about Cote d'ivoire? Or Sierra Leone? Or somewhere else completely? We will be there for about 10 days, and I would imagine will stay in one place (maybe two).

Cameroon - ask WanderinWilco but would be a good bet I believe

Cote d'Ivoire is calm along the coast, you should have a good time there & very few tourists!

Senegal is another idea, better climate for your sister, not so humid, keeping away from the mass resorts for the French; Casamance in the south would be fun!

Sierra Leone is English speaking - so a non-starter

Thanks - I hadn't thought about malarials, although I assume my sister has (I'll check). Originally she was thinking of going to Zanzibar, and I know she's travelled with the baby outside Addis to areas that I think have malaria. Not sure though...

I'll pm this guy and ask about Cameroon, and maybe look into Senegal in a bit more detail - anti malarial situation permitting,

For this trip I have an urge to go to West Africa, rather than North Africa. Primarily because where I live is very West African - so it's given me itchy feet to go and say hello!

I will see if my sister has checked out the health side of things.
