Tajik-Kyrgyz border closed?
Hi,According to a media report the border posts between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have been closed for foreigners.
Does anyone have recent information on passing or being turned down at the border?

Hi, does anyone knows which other border crossing is the most convenient?I get mixed stories about the status of Dzhergatal. Is this one open for foreigners?
And what about the Batken border with it's particular border crossing road? Do you need multiple entry visa for Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and/or Tajikistan or can you easily bypass the exotic enclaves?

I just came from the Tajikistan Embassy in Bishkek and the woman told me that the border into the Pamir region is closed (i.e. Kyzyl-Art). She also would not issue a GBAO permit, but did say to try again in a week or two.3
Thanks, zbek. The Tajik embassy in Germany has now also confirmed that for me. The german embassy in Dushanbe refuses to comment because the information is too volatile. I'm still trying to track down for sure whether the border between the Garm/Rasht valley and Kyrgyzstan is now exceptionally open to foreigners or not. Using the crossing near Khujand into Kyrgyzstan without having an Uzbek visa also seems to be a bit of a pain given the exclaves there.4
For what it's worth: A consul at the Tajik embassy in Berlin now told me that the border with Kyrgyzstan in the Garm valley is open. He confirmed that the Pamir connection is shut and will "probably remain so, maybe for a month" the time it takes for things to calm down.6
Checked with the Tajik Embassy here in Bishkek on September 21st. They're still not issuing GBAO permits. Hope things settle down soon!
