Bansko -> Malyovitsa + Seven Lakes -> Sophia by public transport

Hi, we are travelling in Bulgaria via public transport in August. Towards the end of our trip we plan on going to Bansko for two days then travel to Malyovitsa for two days, on our final day in Malyovitsa we plan to leave early morning and walk to the Seven Lakes, then at the end of the day we would like to get to Sophia somehow.

Firstly does anybody know of any transport links between Bansko and Malyovitsa, or would this need to be a taxi journey?

Secondly I'm aware a bus leaves Dubnitsa at 17:30 on the day we are at the Seven Lakes however I don't think this gives us as much time as we'd like at the lakes, does anybody know of any other buses/public transport options from the lakes or know approximately how much a taxi from the lakes to Sophia would cost?

many thanks!

Hi, from Bansko you will need to get to Samokov, and from Samokov to Maliovitza.I'm not sure about direct buses, you will have to check that when you arrive in Bansko. Allow at least a day for transportation, some times there is only one bus a day available between places. From the Seven Lakes there is a chair lift down to a resort called Panichichte, from there I think there is a mini bus or taxi service to Sapareva Bania. From Sapareva Bania you can get buses to Sofia. However, the trek between Maliovitca and the lakes is quite long and rocky in places so unless you are fast walkers I think you better plan to spend the night at the lakes. A taxi from any of the points to Sofia would be really expensive, I wouldn't attempt it.

Hi, if you take any bus from Bansko to Blagoevgrad between 5-5.30 am (there is a few), you can make connection with the bus Blagoevgrad-Plovdiv (6.50, everyday) - it stops at Samokov at 8.05. From Samokov there is a shuttle to Malyovitsa at 8.15. It will be difficult to learn this even in the bus station. More about the Seven Lakes, Malyovitsa, etc. - at http://bulguides.com (excuse me for the adv.:). About the Seven Lakes - there is only shuttles and taxis to Sapareva Banya, no regular buses, unfortunately.
