Budgeting for Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador

Really simple question.

There's a group of four handsome, adventurous, yet skint lads looking forward to 3 exciting months travelling around Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador.

We don't want to live in squalor but are by no means expecting comfort, we will be going everywhere by bus, and have already set aside the relevant funds to do some of the classic trips.

So with this in mind, does an average of $45 per day sound a reasonable budget across the the 3 countries?

Many thanks in advance!

This is fine as long as it's $45 per person per day. The only exception would be the Inca Trail

Hostel beds are only $6-10 so that leaves plenty of money for activities, eating out and the odd beer.

I would say this is a good budget because you will have days when you spend more when a tour such as Machu Picchu is included or when you have to travel and days where you will spend less. Bolivar is very cheap as mentioned above. In Ecuador for example a hostel will cost you $8-10, breakfast $2-5, lunch $1.50-$5 and dinner $3-$7. Bus Travel costs about $1/hour of travel since gas in Ecuador is subsidized.
