What is the best way of travelling in Denmark? Trains or buses? Can you help me to solve this problem and write me here some prices of trains or buses from Copenhagen to these towns (Roskilde, Helsingør & Hillerød)? I know that Denmark is really expansive country, so I wanted to know at least approximative prices of transporting to these destinations. Are there also some student discounts (I'm 24 years old student) or others possibilities how to save some money?
Thank you so much for your advices and answers.

1prices are exactly the same as you pay with same ticket system (a specificnumber of "zones".
Busses are no option for these places - busses run local routes IN the towns and to some VILLAGES around + a few private lond distance busses. Busses "never" run parallel to trains.
You can plan ANY public transport trip (incl. finding standard prices) at www.rejseplanen.dk
Remember when travelling east part of Sjælland(super-greather-Copenhagen) to buy "Klippekort" (10 times xx zones) or 24 hour tickets (130 DKK).
Klippekort between DKK 145 (10 times 2 zones) to DKK 470 (10 times trip of any length = more than 8 zones). So any trip in the ESjælland (what you plan) will max cost 4*14,50 or 47 DKK depending on card you have chosen. This is IMHO not "very expensive" for traveling 30-50 km.
No discounts for studends (on visits and not doing the trip daily) on these short 20-40 min trips.
Denmark is NOT a "really expensive" coutry - it is like rest of the Nordic countries a bit over avarage NW Europe.which reflects the salary level in these countries.
Finally in Roskilde - remember to go to the Viking ship museum and see real ships like those that went to Iceland, Greenland and North America 1000 years ago. Museum at beautiful location BTW

2Thank you so much for your quick reply. Unfortunately, the site rejseplanen.dk doesnt work at my computer (I dont know why). Could you write me those prices which I need to know? (Copenhagen-Roskilde, Copenhagen-Helsingør, Helsingør-Hillerød, Hillerød-Copenhagen, and also Copenhagen-Malmo). I would be very pleased if you could help me about it.
And how do work "Klippekort"? Is it better than 24 hour tickets when I want to go just to nearby towns of Sjælland? I really appreciate your help and I am glad you are so complaisant. Thank you also for recommendation about Roskilde Viking ship museum - it looks really exciting.

3Never before heard the www.rejseplanen.dk does not work. Maybe it had a probelm?
The Klippekort is FLEXIBLE - can be used any day - and you pay for the distance you travel. if one or more 2 or 3 or "longer" Klippekort - or a few of 24.hour tickets are cheapest is something only you can calculate. The Klippekort will be good for the airport (3 zones from downtown) while buying a 24 hour ticket if this is the only trip a given day is costly.
Here is a zone map (takes for ever to download): http://www.moviatrafik.dk/dinrejse/Priser/hovedstadsomraadet/prisoversigt/lovgrundlag/Documents/Allezoner-Hovedstaden.pdf
Another one here:
All the gray zones are a max price is starting from Copenhagen downtown.
There are the relevant color coded maps on all stations.
The trips you mention are all 8-9 zones except the Helsingør-Hillerød which is 5? zones (will you try to make Hillerød AND Helsingør on a single day???).
Prices here: http://www.moviatrafik.dk/dinrejse/Priser/hovedstadsomraadet/prisoversigt/Pages/prisoversigt.aspx (Voksne = adults - relevat single tickets and Klippekort in line 1 and 3)
København downtown- Malmö is DKK 84 one way
I must admit it is difficult for me to see the reason for having the exact prices now - so I will refrain from stending a lot of time looking up the exact prices at each of the trips. Will you change plans if a ticket cost 50 instead of 40 DKK?

4I try rejseplanen.dk later from another computer, maybe I just have some problem with web-browser.
I dont go to Denmark by airplane, so I will come by bus near to Central Station in city-centre. I would like to visit Helsingør and Hillerød in the same day, so it will be better 24-hour ticket, not? And next day Roskilde (in the morning) and Malmo (in the afternoon)... Is 24-hour ticket valid also for line betwenne Copenhagen and Malmö (although it is line to other country)?
I appreciate your recommendations. I'm looking forward to Sjælland, and nothing will change if ticket would cost 50 instead of 40 DKK :) I just wanted to know approximate prices, so that I could plan better how many € I shoud take. Thank you.

5Is 24-hour ticket valid also for line betwenne Copenhagen and Malmö (although it is line to other country)? no not valid after train has passed the station at the airport.
Roskilde + Malmö in single day cannot be done IMHO except if you just want to say "I have been there -at the railway station and walked the main street" (Look here: hostel-raiway staton-Roskilde: 1 hour - walt to catherdral: 15 min -see cathedral-45 min - walk to viking ships 30 min -see museum 1 hour -lunch 30 min-walk to station-30 min- train to copenhagen 20 min = 5 hours - even if you left hostel after breakfast at 8 it would now be 13:00 - arrival Malmö 13:45 - see downtown till 15:45 - now all museums etc are closing - you couls walk to Turning Torso - return to station 17:30 - back in Copenhagen. Physically you would have done the trip (If you start early) but everything would have been rushed -no time to stop up a visit a place that catches your interest - an odd cafe or shop - leaving the toursit trail.
Hillerød-Helsingør on one day is worse!
the 24 hour ticket is a bit cheaper than the downtown-Hillerød-Helsingør-downtown on a Klippekort. Much cheaper if you also have some local transport (metro, citybusses) in Copenhagen - like hostel- downtown etc.
IF you do these tours in 4 days instead of 3½, how many days do you allocate for Copenhaen itself?
If you really rush these
