Cheapest way to go to Princeton, NJ from NYC?

Right now the cheapest way that I'm aware of is to take Megabus. I think it'll be about $26 for a round trip. Does anyone here know of a cheaper method such a taking commuter rail from NYC?

NJ Transit. $16.50 each way.

Or Suburban Transit, $13.95 each way. http://www.coachusa.com/info/suburban/ss.toolkit.fares.asp . But I'd take the train, unless arriving at NYC Port Authority bus terminal was advantageous.

Or (to answer the question pretty literally, not that I'd recommend this), I think one could assemble a feasible bike route to the Staten Island ferry.

@bzookaj,

That's more expensive than Megabus! Boy to mention that won't take me all the way to Princeton!

@tiltedflipcurves,

It's not that hard to get there. I think the A train goes there. Will that take me all the way to Princeton or I'll have to transfer from somewhere?

@4: I'm not sure what you mean by "there" and "that." If you're asking whether the Suburban Transit bus goes from Princeton all the way to NYC Port Authority, I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. It know it does from New Brunswick. But check their website at the link I provided.

As to the origination point at Princeton: By train it's Princeton Junction, which is connected to central Princeton by the "dinky" short train shuttle and taxis. See http://www.princeton.edu/pr/pub/is/5arrival.html . By bus I'd bet it's downtown (Nassau Street), but check.

#3, if you don't like his answer, do your OWN searches.

$13 each way is cheap. I don't think you understand the distances.
