Yup, there are places in the US I don't even like driving through and places I absolutely love. Kinda like any other country. Hmmmm

I hate to say basically what I've already said, but I gotta agree with Smartyviv. The Grand Canyon is spectacular but the number of National Parks near the Grand Canyon makes it even better to go and spend a couple weeks. It could easily be extended into 3-4 weeks. Camp and hike. Camp and hike.

Camp and hike.
I can assure you there are urban teens and 20-somethings (of many nationalities) who would get bored by this in a heartbeat: "There's nothing to do here! There's one shop and it's really small! There are no clubs! They don't have a sushi bar! It's full of old people dressed like slobs and hippies!" Etc.

I've been to the US a dozen times and always had a wonderful time. My highlights are: New York, San Francisco, Chicago, the bits of route 66 that traverse Arizona, New Mexico and California, the Grand Canyon (particularly at Yavapai), New Orleans, the area around Monterrey and the coast south of that, the Napa and Sonoma valleys, Muir Woods and the deserts around Tucson. It's such a diverse place, not like a country, more like a continent.

But, in the interests of the generally sour nature of this thread, I didn't think much of Boston and Atlanta.

I guess if a tourista is expecting Hollywood flash and bootleggers and strereotypes everywhere.
One will be disappointed.

Lie talking to locals, at length anywhere;
We're just folks.

If you can't find something that completely captivates and enthralls and inspires you in the US, you must be dead.

It's amazing how a lot of you saying how boring and pathetic the US is are the same ones stepping on my foot on Time Square because you cant take your eyes off the skyline. Come on, I can certainly understand how most of the world look upon us with frown eyes (mostly due to generalization) but to say it's a boring country and not worth traveling to? It's nonsense! high mountains, amazing beaches, glaciers and deserts, forrests and tundras! And for those who have hung out in NYC, Miami, Chicago , Boston, New Orleans, LA, Seattle, San Francisco, Vegas etc know they're FAR from boring. It's funny how you bring out the fact that most Americans don't have a passport but you probably hail from a country the size of New Jersey. It's just about having a positive attitude and yes Americans can be rude, arrogant and prepotent but guess what so does anyone else in the world. Don't take me wrong this is not about patriotism, it's a honest, non biased opinion.
