Farmwork/Regional work in Oz for November :)

Hello everyone!

We are a British couple (female 21 and male 29) who are looking to do regional/farm work in Australia (preferably in maybe the following places - Byron Bay, Coffs harbour, Bundaberg but obviously happy to work anywhere) that has seasonal work in November - January as we are looking to get our 2nd year visa. We would like somewhere that pays you and includes accommodation if possible?

I was hoping maybe anyone had any contact details for farmers they have completed the work with??

Hope to hear from you soon!

Thanks

Jo & Dan

You might have more luck in Bundaberg, but there is very limited seasonal work in Byron Bay or Coffs Harbour, and you would be competing with students and school leavers in their long vacation before University. December and January are our Summer holidays, and coastal places are full of tourists, so accommodation will be scarce and expensive.

Try the calendar on this website:

Accommodation doesn't usually come with a job and needs to be paid extra.

Your best bet are working hostels. They can help finding a job as they have connections. Or you just walk around and talk to people, who know other people, who know other people, etc...

I once had a job as a cherry tomato picker. By lunchtime my mate and I realised that this is not going to earn us any money, so we quit, sat in the car, drove around, and an hour later we had started another job already, this time pruning table grapes.

In some towns there is a meeting point in the mornings (for example the post office or the local petrol station), where wannabe workers congregate, and then the farmers come around and take their pick.

One of the best working hostels is the one in Berri, South Australia.

But beware, you have to be at the right place at the right time with the right attitude to quickly find a job.
