First time female travellor looking for ideas where to go for 4 weeks?

Hey I am looking for ideas of where I can travel to and things I can do when I'm there. I have never been travelling before and will be going on my own. I am off for 4 weeks over christmas and new year so want to get the best out of the experience in this time. Any ideas, experiences are much appriciated :) thanks Nicolle

Well we don't know where you're from, which country you'd like to go to, what sort of things you enjoy, or anything about you at all. So, um, I suggest a map and a dart and go from there.

In Christmas 2013 I'm going to see Santa. Perhaps you could go this year and tell me what it's like.

#1, could you tell Santa I'd like an automatic garage door opener. I'm sick of getting wet every time I have to open and shut it.

OP, theres a search box up the top that provides an enormous amount of info. Combine that with either google.com.au or google.co.nz (makes searching easier by refining the searches)

Well I'm from the uk, Im not sure where I want to go hence the thread. There are so many places its diffucult to choose. I'm happy doing anything from bungee jumping, lying on a beach with a beer, taking in local culture and sightseeing.

#2 I'll put in a good word for you, but I think we should work on getting the OP go this year and we can all send her our Dear Santa letters.

Yes, which is why we can't tell you where to go either. Perhaps get a guide book from your library and see what appeals? There are great beaches all over New Zealand, bungy jumping is often done in Queenstown but there are other places where you can do it, by culture many people mean Maori culture in which case Rotorua will probably be on your itinerary, sightseeing is most of the country depending on what you want to see.

Unless you want to go to Australia?

Well if you're here over New Year you could arrange to be in Sydney for New Years Eve and watch the fireworks with 3 million other people.

A trip to Antarctica might also appeal.

Aust-Sydney for NY Eve 2013 is very busy, accomodation wise.

If wanting to spend NY there, be ready to be shocked accomodation price wise.

Australia and New Zealand are a long way from the UK if ou only have 4 weeks. Both offer bungee jumping, beaches, beer and sights and culture to see.
However, if you want to be in either for Christmas and New Year, decide and book soon, or you will not get anywhere to stay. It is the middle of our summer holidays.

#1 and #2 - the op is from the UK, quite possibly has already been to see Santa. North Pole is only about a 3 hour flight.

Op - lots of places to go, imo scenery and life threatening activities such as bungee jumping, New Zealand is probably your destination. Beaches, drinking and sunshine then Australia, parts of Asia are good for beaches, sunshine and markets with 'knock-off' labels.
