IMPORTANT QUESTION
Hello.. important question.. me (from Canada) and my girlfriend from Vietnam, are trying to get a visa for her to visit me in Canada for 10 days or so. All the papers are in (the Embassy) but they want a copy of my passport. Is that normal standard operating procedures. Or should I worry about sending a scanned copy of my passport overseas???Thanks for you help

Sending a passport photocopy, is the least of your worries in this processyou will have many other doubts along the way
usually a vietnamese person is not given a tourist visa unless they have a business here, or a very good job with a big company
having loads of money in the bank, or real estate is not a guarantee that they will want to get back here
there is no posting of bond to ensure they will come back here, the embassy reply to that question was that the only time one can post a bond with canada is to get out of jail
with my ex wife, even being married and owning 14 000 m2 of beachfront land in vietnam was not enough to get a tourist visa ... it took us 17 months and ended up with a minister permit, and what a trip that was,
