Bucharest - Budapest - Bratislava - Vienna - Salzburg - Prague
Looking for some advice on our travel itinerary for our trip to Europe that will span approximately 18 days. We're interested in seeing lots on interesting things, having some good food and enjoying some great company. We really don't need to spend our time in museums but are open to exploring the culture. Our proposed itinerary is as follows:Bucharest (3 days) then fly to
Budapest (3 days)
Bratislava (1 day)
Vienna (4 days)
Salzburg (4 days) my sister lives here
Prague (3 days)
Just have a few questions:
1. Is it worth going to Bucharest and if so, is 3 days too much time?
2. Are there any other cities we should be visiting and possibly taking a pass or reducing the amount of time in another city on our itinerary?
Any assistance and insight would be appreciated. Thanks....

What a lovely trip. Personally I'd probably find Bucharest indeed the least interesting of these cities, just from my own taste I did not find it that enjoyable. However I went to Brasov to visit Bran's castle and see the Transylvania countryside, which was quite a beautiful excursion (and train journey from Bucharest).I then took the train to Tirgu Mures, where Wizzair have an airport. The journey took about 7 hours by train, but was not expensive. The reason I went to Tirgu Mures is that you can fly very cheaply to Budapest from there - for around 8 euros. Worth considering, perhaps, but it may be too much of a diversion for you.

Agree with Anticosmic.Three days in Bucharest is 2.5 too many. The Transylvania region is a different story. Spend your three days there.
Good luck.

1. It's worth going to Bucharest but three days is too long for it.Spend one day in Bucharest, then as mentioned above catch a train to Brasov (with a stopover in Sinaia to see Peles palace) in southern Transylvania. In the remaining days visit Brasov and maybe do a side trip to Rasnov fortress+Bran castle.
After that either catch a bus (it's a lot faster than by train) to Targu Mures to fly to Budapest or take one of the Brasov-Budapest overnight trains.

Just my two cents - I very much enjoyed my time in Romania, just not Bucharest. Romania is a fascinating country. It's very scenic (in the right places) has a lot of interesting history and can be a great place to explore.I certainly wouldn't dissuade you from visiting Romania; I just wouldn't spend any time in Bucharest. I've been to Zagreb but not Sofia. I wouldn't recommend either over a visit to the Transylvania region.
Good luck.

Moreover I think one day is not enough for Bratislava :) Try to rethink this unless you do not want to make only a superfast sightseeing.Look here: http://bratislava-slovakia.eu/places/sightseeing - there is planty to do and those are only just the must-see spots.
I also prepared some free sightseeing trips map: http://bratislava-slovakia.eu/tours/free-tours so you do not have to wander in the city.
