6 days in Western Norway (Bergen / Geiranger / Alesund)

Hi all!

My girlfriend and I will be traveling to Bergen in the first week of September (we are students), and have a flight out of Alesund (to Copenhagen) ~6 days later. We are trying to determine how to split up our time and wanted to get some advice.

The current plan is to spend 2 days in Bergen, 2 days in Geiranger (Grande Cabins?), and 2 days in Alesund (Alesund Hostel?). I wanted to get advice on a few points:

1) Is it worth spending 3 days in Bergen and only 1 in Alesund, or is the 2/2 split ideal? We would like to plan day trips outside the city as well, so maybe one location is better for that than another? (we were initially debating the Norway in a Nutshell day trip from Bergen, but it is very pricey, and we may get similar scenery en route to Geiranger anyhow)

2) Getting from Bergen to Geiranger -- we were planning to take the 0800 bus from Bergen to Hellesylt, and then the ferry from Hellesylt to Geiranger, which gets us into Geiranger at 1930. Does anyone know if there is a student discount for this trip, and if this is the best way to get there (considering scenery + cost)?

3) Alesund -- any suggestions for how to spend our time in/around Alesund? We're already doing the journey to Geiranger and spending time there, so perhaps there's other excursions outside of Alesund (or, as I mentioned above, may just be best to spend the extra day based out of Bergen and cut down on our time in Alesund).

4) In Geiranger, is it easy to get from the Ferry dropoff to the Grande Cabins/Camping area?

We are looking forward to the trip very much, just want to make sure we're balancing everything right!
