ABraodtrip2012: That makes sense. Your trip will take you through Fort Worth. If you do a search on "Fort Worth" on the forum, you'll find recommendations for things to see. It is generally recommended over Dallas, though I'll leave the specifics to the locals as I have never been to that part of the DFW area.

You might want to ask for cajun food recommendations for Shreveport, which you will also pass through. There are tons of casinos there, if that is something that interests you.

FTR, while you could probably find something, Shreveport is not a Cajun area. It would be like going to xPittsburgh and asking for a xPhilly cheese steak.

bzookaj: I know Shreveport isn't cajun per se, but I have eaten at several good cajun restaurants there. It would make a good stopping point on their long drive, which is why I suggested it. If they are purists, they could perhaps look for a gulf seafood restaurant instead.
