Self-drive in Capetown or Hire local cabs

Hi

I am visiting Capetown on honeymoon in Nov. Wanted to know if i should take a self-driven cab (from operators like avis, Herts, etc) from Airport itself, or should i pay and use Local Cabs.

My plan:

Day 1: Arrive from airport. Day at leisure. I intend to book a hotel closer to Waterfront or city centre.
Day2: Visit Table Top mountain.
Day 3: Visit Cape Point.
Day4-7: Checkout, drive to Garden route and back to CPT airport (plan to hire a self driven cab for this part of the trip for sure).

Please suggest.

Most hotels will be happy to organise transfers to and from the airport.

They will also be able to organise for you to join organised group (or private) tours to all the principal sights.

You can therefore just use a hire car for your trip up the coast.

Once you have escaped urban CT, it's easy and safe to drive - so long as you use common sense. NB It's good advice not to drive at night - not for any criminal concerns but more about the quality of local drivers and people/animals on the road.
