Getting Around From ZandvoortHello,
I maybe spending 2 nights in Zandvoort (in mid Sept) and was trying to figure out the best way (cost and time) to get from Schipol to Zandvoort, Zandvoort to Dam Central, and Zandvoort back to Schipol? I'm not interested in taking a taxi.
I've looked at many hotels in Central Amsterdam and they tend to be fairly expensive, Zandvoort has a some nice hotels for about 60-70 euro. Is there any other area that maybe more convinent (in terms of transportation) for us to consider around Amsterdam? Any hotel recommendations?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Schiphol - Zandvoort and vice versa means either taking a bus to Haarlem station and train to Zandvoort, or taking a train to Sloterdijk and then train to Zandvoort. From Zandvoort there are direct trains to Amsterdam Centraal.
Alternatives with easy transport links: try Leiden, Haarlem or Utrecht. All nice places in their own right with direct connections to both the airport and Amsterdam Centraal. Or stay in one of the Amsterdam suburbs.

3I suspect that you may have chosen Zandvoort in desperation, having seen the prices of Amsterdam accommodation. To my mind the beaches around Amsterdam are a little less than pristine, the surf is non existent, and the food is no better than that available in Blackpool. With immense respect to Aribo and others who have helped me immensely in my trip planning, Amsterdam and environs just aint beach territory.
Might I suggest an alternative (and there are plenty of others - lots of interesting cities around Amsterdam, the good Doctor's suggestions above are good) - we recently spent a couple of more than pleasant days at Martien Winkelsteijn's De Zonnehoed , near Lisse. Lovely accommodation, wonderful breakfasts, pleasant walking and cycling around, a pleasant town nearby. It's not far south of the airport and, although we drove we understand that there is excellent train and bus access.
It did really seem more Dutch than what you describe as the "Dam" and we loved it. Bugger all night life, though, but that was of little concern to us.

I don't recall having every suggested it is, although the Dutch coast IMHO is a great place for a stroll on a stormy day. I definitely am not one of the thousands of Dutch and Germans who descend on the coast for a sun tan as soon as the temperature hits 20°C.
Kingd85, since your name sounded familiar I took a quick look at your posting history - didn't we have almost the same conversation last year, when you couldn't find a hotel in Amsterdam in your budget range and asked for alternatives?

Aribo, yes we did have a similar conversation. Although last time I was inquiring about Leiden.
The help is much appreciated, thanks again.
