Hiking

Hi,
I love nature and would like to do some hiking in Czech Republic during my stay there.
Here are 4 spots that I read it is nice :
1) Cesky Raj
2) Teplice
3) Sumava
4) Blansky

My questions are :
1) are they good spots, are they worth it ?
2) any trails recommandations for each of them?
3) Any other places you would suggest for great hikes ?

As to make sure you understand what i mean by hikes : well, could be an easy walk for a day and a hard one, or extend one (2-3 days). I'm pretty fit and experienced, so I guess that i can handle a broad range of hikes :)

Thank you so much !

I've only been to Česky Raj and Šumava and I much preferred the latter. I found the landscape a lot more to my taste, greener and wilder, with large pine forests, whereas Česky Raj was mostly rock formations and deciduous forest. You could google-image them to see which appeals most.

In Šumava, I found the plateau the most scenic part, near Modrava and Kvilda, but there are also some low peaks to climb if you like that. The trails are well marked and popular - you just need to get a hiking map of the park, which shouldn't be difficult to find.

Hi we, that is I and my wife have just returned from a walking trip to the Czech Republic, we flew into Prague, we then used public transport up to the Krkonose mountains where we spent 4 nights and 3 days walking the well marked trails, we were walking about 10/11 miles a day, and it was hard walking at times, we then got the bus back to Cesky Raj where again we had 4 nights and 3 days walking some of the trails which were not as hard as the Krkonose mountains, and well worth a visit in my opinion, if you need any more info give us a P/M cheers

From your spots I would suggest only Cesky Raj and Sumava. Blansko and Teplice (Krusne Hory) are not much interested. I would reccommend you two more spots, great for hiking Krkonose and Jizerske hory.

We got nice online map system with trails in Czech republic. I have prepared great two days trail in Krkonose. Here is link: http://mapy.cz/s/4uHd
Here are some photos from this trail in May 2012

Maps for trekking for whole Czech Republic: http://mapy.cz/#x=14.674489&y=49.934725&z=8&l=2

If you zoom sufficiently in the map, the color marked paths will appear – these are marked all in the terrain, so it is very easy to follow them even without a map. So you can easily plan where to go.

Of course all the maps are sold in the outdoor shops or bookstores in 1:50000 scale.
