Looking for recommendations for accommodation that's not a hostel but also not a fortune...does that exist? I haven't found much in between.
From there we plan to go diving in Nanaimo. Any recommended dive operators? Or dive sites? We're both PADI advanced open water divers with 25+ dives. And accommodation?
Next is Tofino. I read on this forum about Wyapoint, so we plan to stay there, in between Tofino and Uculet.
We still have time after that before heading back to Vancouver, so I'm just looking for more tips!

2Check out scubaboard.com for some great diving advice.
I havent dove Nanaimo but they have a famous wreck out there called the Saskatchewan. You need an Advanced Open Water ticket to get down to it which should be fine for you. You'll need the wreck specialty to penetrate but I gather just checking out the surface is cool enough.
If you really want to see some unbelievable scuba, get up to Port Hardy at the north tip of the Island. Cousteau considered it second only to the Red Sea as far as diving goes, and it really is a beautiful location. The walls are so full of life it's hard to even get a hand on something that isn't living when doing wall dives out there. Another good location is Ogden Point in Victoria. It's a long breakwater extending out from the shore and has some beautiful kelp forests. The whole thing is build of big blocks not unlike the pyramid, which is really cool as you descend deeper... Great place to see octopuses and wolf eels.
Nanaimo I'm not sure about accommodation either, but hostelworld will probably be able to hook you up with some good ideas.

3Have you tried looking into couchsurfing.com? Its a great way to meet locals who are more than willing (usually!) to show you around their town and best of all? Its free! Only catch is that you're crashing on their couch... haha depends on your adventure level I suppose!
Camping is also another option if you're into that!
Good luck and have fun!
