Purchasing AUD Travellers Cheques

Hi all..........
I am trying to track down somewhere to purchase AUD travellers cheques.
I have looked at the websites of Austpost, Bankwest, NAB, Commonwealth, Westpac but to purchase online, none of them offer AUD travellers cheques. ANZ seems to be the only institution to offer them and me not being an ANZ customer I can only buy a maximum of AUD1000 over the counter.
Seems to be the banks and American Express have it sewn up and are reluctant to sell AUD T/Cs. Can't work it out.
Has anyone been able to buy AUD travellers cheques recently and, if so WHERE?????
Thanks guys
Chris

Travelex sell them (well, they sell AMEX ones) but as far as I know they don't sell them online. It's possible that the $1000 limit is to discourage speculators from holding TCs.

I bought $5,000 of AUD TCs not too long ago. I bought them online from Amex and picked them up at the local Post office.

^^ yes, AMEX does a good job here. Buy on line and pick up at the post office of your choice.

I use them all the time for foreign currency purchases.

I have used travellers cheques last in 1998. Have not thought about them since. What do you need them for?
