Thanks for all ideas and comments.

Fg & Anonimo: smoked haddock and chorizo complement each other superbly - but it's just my twist on the classic Scottish dish of ham and haddie.

I'd be delighted to eat breakfast at chez trib.

You continue to be a source of inspiration, sashac.

Aside from the unintended but inherent arrogance of Nutrax's Mangetout are what the rest of us call sugar or snow peas , I'm curious what 'the rest of you' call sugar snap peas: a variety of pea similar to mangetout in that the pod is edible. However, sugar snaps are bulbous rather than flat, as the peas inside are fully mature (BBC)

Show of hands, here. Who else knew "mangetout" without looking it up? It's not listed in Cook's Thesaurus http://www.foodsubs.com/

Mange Tout is French for ("eat all") and may refer to "Haggis" or many legumes.

If you look in (Old) English seed catalogues when the (foreign) varity is not known they use generan terms like ....Hot peppers, sweet peppers, sweet corn and (mnnge tout ...for snap peas, snow peas sugar snap peas and green beans)

So I guess it's the same at Tesco.

It's possible to completely poach a piece of frozen fish (smoked or otherwise) very quickly.
Depending on size - of course.
10 ounces can be poached and ready from freezer to table in about 5 minutes.
Tastes much better in a pan - than from the microwave.

Poaching is healthier, for the most part.

Poaching is recommended for the un-healthy.
