Eastern Europe IIteneary

Hello,

Spending 6 weeks in eastern Europe this fall, probably doing trains. Any suggestions? Already been to Budapest, Prague...so need some new ideas/thoughts?

Cheers.

Transylvania in Romania (there are numerous places such as Brasov, Sighisoara, Sibiu). Timsoara in Romania also (although it is not classed as Transylvania).
Krakow, Poland
Lviv, Ukraine (which has an overnight train to and from Krakow)
Bratislava, Slovakia
Sarajevo & Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Croatia is also nice if you want to end by the sea!

There are whole regions of Eastern Europe which are not well serviced by trains so you might want to rethink this. There is very limited train service in Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Macedonia, also Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Buses and minibuses are the way to go in these countries.

It would help to know your interests, budget, etc.

Eurolot now has Kraków-Lviv 4 times a week starting at 24 €. It's a good option to avoid the border misery.

Gdansk old city and Malbork castle,
Torun (old city of gingerbreads, birthplace of astronomer Copernicus)
Poznan - just amazing old city
