Western Australia ideas?
I'm planning a trip to Perth in September for 20-14 days. I should have accommodation in the Swan Valley for 7 of them, and will be spending some time meeting family members for the first time.I will possibly have two groups of 3 days to sight-see. Any suggestions? Anyone available to meet? I am happy to hire a car, but would be looking for basic (but self-contained) accommodation.
I would like to head north from Perth (perhaps New Norcia) if there are destinations suitable for a 3-day round trip. I would prefer not to have to book ahead, except for car hire.

No PMs yet (except from a Canadian WTer.)4
I wrote a longish post but lost it grrrrrAnyway, head north because it's wildflower season. You can stay at the monastery guesthouse (basic, peaceful, good food) at New Norica then continue up to Morowa/Mingenew before heading to the coast to see the Pinnacles. The Lancelin Lodge YHA is very good.
Perth has changed quite a bit in the last few years. I can recommend a few tours, for example Fremantle Prison torchlight tour, and Eat/Drink/Walk/Perth but it depends what you're initerested in seeing.

Mingenew is about 400 km from Perth, the Pinnacles about 200. New Norica ia only an hour or so. Have sent you a PM which I think went twice - not my night for technology
