Solo in Bali - Lombok and Gili T!

Now then freaks!!

Currently in Ubud, Bali.

Need to make my way back to Legian to drop my motorbike off first, then hoping to leave on a ferry/fast boat to Senggigi in Lombok around the 9th/10th July. Then going to make my way to the Gili's! Or is it better to go straight to Gili's just to save the hassle?

if you have any advice or are heading that way as well...

Cheers big ears

Probably better to start with the Gili islands. Depending on what kind of stay you're looking for, I'd suggest you stay on Gili Trwangan and take day trips to Gili Air and Gili Meno.

You can take any number of fastboats from Padang Bai, and most will provide free vehicle pick up from your accommodation in Ubud.

There's some wonderful places to see in Lombok, but I wouldn't recommend travelling outside Sengiggi by yourself. There are plenty of locals happy to show you around for a small- and I do mean small - fee. Otherwise, message me and I'd be happy to show you some of Lombok. .

Have lived many yrs in Lombok and don't understand your advice that James2012 shouldn't go by himself outside Senggigi. This is ridiculous. Have never ever encountered any kind of problems when travelling outside tourist areas myself.

Agree with Sitiamina totally. Also travelling solo greatly increases your chances of meeting more of the wonderful local people. Selamat jalan.

This one is always tricky for me, Sitiamina. I'm not implying that it's unsafe, but a local guide or driver can be of great use dealing with locals, most of whom speak no English, and dealing with cultural stuff.

Enjoy your trip, James.

Superfreak,
You could get Perama to take you from Kuta to Senggigi or the Gilis - your choice.
