Shannon for one dayHi all,
I will be in Shannon for one day only (for work), but will be there on 3 separate occasions this month. I wanted to know if there was much to see in Shannon or if it would be better to rent a car for the day and travel around the area. Any recommendations on what to see in just one day in the area? Also, are there any good suggestions for local pubs and restaurants in or around Shannon that is a local favorite? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Welcome to SNN. The town itself pretty much grew from the airport and neighbouring industrial park, it's mostly a mix of industrial and residential so the sights in the town itself are limited.
If you're on a night stop, Bunratty (http://www.bunratty.ie/) is a must, the castle and folk park date back to the 1400's. To quench the thirst after an afternoon of sightseeing then it's Durty Nellies (http://durtynellys.ie/) beside the Castle, Ol, Ceoil agus Craic in abundance. Bunratty is 4 to 5 miles from Shannon so is quick and inexpensive in a cab.
Limerick is a little further from Shannon, 12 miles and approximately 15 minutes by car. For good food, Copper and Spice (http://www.copperandspice.ie) on Cornmarket Row and the Cornstore (http://www.cornstorerestaurantslimerick.ie/) on Thomas Street are recommended. Night life in Limerick is also quiet good, Nancy Blake’s on Denmark Street being probably the most popular Bar draws a range of customers from every age (all over 23), for Live Irish music 7 nights a week Dolans on the docks is the place to go. St John’s castle in Limerick is worth a visit, but for a true experience head for Adare Village,(http://www.adarevillage.com/history.php) thatched cottages, the Manor, the ruins of the Abbey and great pubs and restaurants all in one village and sure to keep you entertained for a one day stop.

I work for Delta, not Omni. Hope you haven't had a bad experience on Delta... ;-)
When you tell people what airline you work for, the usual reaction is, "Oh, I love your airline!" or "I had the worst experience ever on Delta (rolling their eyes).
Anyway, I'm looking forward to my visits to Shannon this month though I wished I had more than one day each time. Seems like there are plenty to do!

Great info! I think on my first visit I will go to Doolin and the Cliffs of Moher and possibly Galway if time permits. Then on my second layover there, go to Bunratty Castle and Limerick and/or Adare Village (sounds especially appealing). Looking forward to checking out all the pubs, restaurants, and night spots you recommended! Thanks so much for the tips!

That was before my time here at Delta. I was with Northwest and we merged a few years ago so I don't know anything about their Song branding. Sorry I couldn't help you there.
Another question for you:
We stay in Limerick and we have been searching for car rental companies there but they all seem to have offices only in Shannon airport. Do you know of any car rental companies in Limerick, and if now, are there other ways to get to the Cliffs of Moher and Doolin like a bus?
