15I'd be interested to know about the hitch-hiking.
Someone asked about hitch-hiking (in Yunnan, I think) in another thread a while ago and I said that I'd never seen this done in the 8 years I've been in Northern China (By anyone).
You stood on the road-side and stuck your thumb out?
How did you communicate to tell them where you were going?
