Hot Air balloon in Marrakech

Hello,

Will be arriving in Morocco friday for a month and i can't wait. Since my main purpose is photography i read that there's a few pilot offering hot air balloon trip from outside marrakech. Some say until July 5th and some say there's none in summer. Any other Hot Air balloon opportunity smowhere else than marrakech?

Any ideas or tips would be appreciated. Also are there ways in Morocco to hire a pilot and small plane / helicopter for photography over the desert, etc? Are the prices as high as in America?

Thanks all and see you Friday :-)

1. Hot air balloons do not take kindly to the sun, hence they fly early morning or at dusk; I would think they suspend the flights dependant on the heat, it's been particularly hot this year ... so they might not be flying again till later in the year.

2. I have contacts at Ouzarzate airport, will make inquiries about private flights & post again on here when I get hold of them online

Enjoy

Thank you very much! I will check for any development.

Also what would be best for currency in Morocco, i mean besides Dirhams. I leave from Canada so should i get some U.S. Dollars or Euros? Which ones is preferred?

As you are probably aware, Canadian dollars are not generally accepted in Morocco. Ditto credit cards. Euros are best as an emergency fund. ATMs are everywhere for withdrawing on a debit card.

If he runs to high standards then he probably won't be risking lives at this time of year!

I have never found anything free in Morocco. And obviously, you would get better lighting for photos in the early a.m. or late p.m.
Instead of euros, just use your ATM debit card to withdraw dirhams as needed...but let your bank know of your travels in advance or it may block your card.
