South West France recommendations

Hi,

My husband and I are planning a road trip in August from Bilbao in Spain into France and up the West Coast, leaving from La Rochelle (2 weeks in total).

We'd like to visit some authentic and relaxed French towns and villages on our way and we are particularly interested in great French food and wine!

Can anyone recommend nice areas, hotels, B and Bs, campsites, wineries, villages etc. for us to see on our way?

Thanks!

Morbihan Coast, I personally like Vannes Town, for the authenticity of Breton and relax atmosphere..
touristic beach near town at Plage de Port-Navalo, good to visit in August

#1, this means backtracking for the OP.
We like the french Basque Country very much and stayed a couple of times in Banca in hotel ERREGUINA. You can easily spend a couple of days in the area. Use viamichelin to see how to get there and to find what other towns and villages might interest you.

Travelling from Spain into France, St Jean de Luz is a gorgeous small seaside Basque village, plenty of accommodation and great seafood.
If you want to head into the mountains for more Basque experiences Hotel Chilo in Barcus is a wonderful place to stay. Gorgeous food, views of snow capped Pyrenees and access to a wonderful area.

Thank you very much! I'll have a look at some of the places you have suggested.
