Travel from Tuguegarao to Banaue

Any ideas on how to do this via bus? I can't find any routes in any travel guides -- assuming I will have to go through Santiago City? I'm hoping to see Banaue, Sagada and Batad AFTER I visit Tuguegarao.
Thanks

Can do. Will need to take three separate buses. Tell driver from Tuguegarao that you want to get off at road junction to Banaue. Second bus will take you to small mountain town where you will transfer one more time for final drive to Banaue. Very scenic route. Good luck.

type...tuguegarao...into the advanced search on the right corner of this page.

I did it a few years ago. Rode on top of the bus. One of the best days I have ever had. Buy a cheap pillow and sit on the tire. Take a belt or something and tie it to the rack to use as a hand hold.

If you fly into Tug..early...go straight away to the jeepney area that goes to Tabuk. It departed before 11am.

Spend the night in Tabuk. Departed by bus to Bontoc at 6am or so. Arrive Bontoc, take pick up truck up to Sagada all in one day.

Schedules probably have changed a little.

I have never found a good map of the area. This map might help give you an idea of the trip. It is all mountains, only a few villages between Tug and Bontoc.

Go Tug to Tabuk, road follows Chico River valley to Bontoc.

If you are afraid of heights take the eastern route. Often times when you look down from the top of the mini-bus all you see is the edge of the cliff and a river a long, long way down in the valley.

Many unique working rice/crop terraces on the other side of the valley. Good photos.

...maybe stop for a few days in Tinglayan ?

This is a village in Kalinga country located on the Chico River about midway between Tabuk and Bontoc

...it is beautiful area for trekking - amazing people and country

I suggest staying at the Sleeping Beauty Inn and perhaps getting in contact with Francis

possible ideas - from a road trip

you will never forget a time spent in Tinglayan and it is a bit off the beaten path. If you choose - you can use this place as a base to get way off the beaten path

cheers

There is a Tabuk-Bontoc non-ac bus that pass by Banaue. They have one trip a day. Not sure of the schedule. Tuguegarao-Tabuk is a short distance ride.
