Short term apartments in Cusco?Does anyone know of any short term, preferably serviced, apartments in central Cusco?
I plan to spend around 4 months there and don't need a luxurious place but it should be nice enough, have hot water, be central, have WiFi access and if serviced would be great. I would be willing to spend up to $600USD a month but less is better of course. :)

1hello again Thespade, looking to spend some time in Cusco? good man I spend about half my year over there love the place.
So appartments, there are loads about mate but you'll probably gonna find it easier to sort when your there. For example theres a local newspaper that comes out every tuesday and thursday called 'rueda de negocios', it has sections for 'gringos' and 'international students', you'll find decent places in there. Normally all with wifi hot water and cable.
Also in hostels youll see adverts or just actually walking round the backstreets you will see signs advertising room and appartments, 'habitacios' or 'alquilar'.
You would definetly get a decent place for around $400 a month, if your thinking of studying spanish the schools can normally hook you up with a nice room or appartment

3you will never be too far away from the plaza in Cusco, alot of the appartments are normally around 20 mins walk. taxi's are so cheap and easy its not a problem. San blas is probably the most expensive area to live, its nice and quiet and about 10mins walk from plaza. obviously the further away you are the cheaper it gets.
short term lets are the norm basically and they normally just want a months rent up front. When wil you be arriving?

5San Blas as i mentioned is nice quiet, arty but most expensive, 'Calle Recoleta' is nice, lots of backpackers live round here, its near the plaza and the 'cusquena' brewery so you get the hoppy beer smell all around you.......
Down by the bus terminal is more lively, more peruvians living round there which i prefer, you get the cheap restraunts and beer shops, basically as i said before your never that far from the plaza and everyday hustle where ever you live in Cusco

6On a Peru expat forum people are saying a serviced apartment that is rented to gringos would set me back a minimum of $1000 a month.

8I wouldn't be willing to pay $1k a month for an apartment in Peru. $400 seems more reasonable to me.

9Maybe $1000 a month for a flash apartment in Miraflores with an ocean view, but certainly not in Cusco.
