Mount Bromo, continue to Malang?

Hi,
we (couple) will visit Mt. Bromo from Probolinggo in August. I've heard there are also tours starting from Malang. We thought about not tracking back to Probolinggo and continue directly to Malang. Is it easy to negotiate and hop on a tour jeep or to get other transportation heading to Malang? If yes, at which time do they usually depart?

Thanks!

of course, but you will pay high-priced for jeep heading to malang, i suggest to take public transportation or call rent car to pick you up, it s cheaper..

I'm Indonesian, local Probolinggo.

U can get public transport from Probolinggo Bayuangga bus station 2 Cemorolawang 4 IDR 25K, but driving when full, commonly around 10 am-1 pm.

Yeah, u can get jeep from Bromo 2 Malang.
But yes, that's very expensive, probably u pay IDR 800K 4 jeep touring.
The driver will escort u from your hotel at Cemorolawang 2 see sunrise at Pananjakan 1 departing bout 3 am, then at 7 am go 2 Bromo, n the driver will wait u till 9 am then go Tumpang.
U can get many jeeps anytime.
4 detailer, rent a jeep 4 Pananjakan 1 n Bromo from Cemorolawang bout IDR 350K-450K, Pananjakan 2 n Bromo from Cemorolawang bout IDR 250K-350K, Bromo-Tumpang bout IDR 500K.
The last trip is Tumpang, 22 km 2 Mlg.
Get a taxi from Tumpang 2 Malang.

Good luck.

Hellow olid rori,

can you maybee suggest me a good place at Cemoro Lawang to stay? The idea is to be close to bromo so we can do an early hike in the morning starting from the hotel and not to get up to early.

I read about the Camara Indah hotel but it doesnt seem to have any avaiability any more. I am going on the 13-14th of july.

An other question, few days before our visit to bromo we will be visiting surakarta/solo(Tawangmangu). As i have been looking to a map with the train connections on it the trail seems to be: Solo-surabaya and then surabaya-malang. (or also possible surabaya-probolingo).What do you think about this route? Is there a quicker way to get to malang from solo than through surabaya?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi Nidels,
Just try 2 stay at Setia Kawan homestay or Wisma Yog.
Not good room, but good place.
Both only 10 m north of CemoroIndah Hotel.
Now is high season, right?
If u can't get the hotel near Bromo, just stay at Probolinggo city, 45 km from Bromo, but u have 2 leave 4 Bromo early (probably at 2 am), n u have 2 rent the car.

R u going 2 visit Bromo via Tumpang Malang or Probolinggo?

It depends on what train u get.
Some trains Solo-Sby such as Sancaka, Mutiara Selatan, n Bima of course will get Sby. N the train doesn't go 2 Mlg.
N the train Solo-Mlg such as Gajayana, n Malabar direct going 2 Malang. Get that train n u don't need 2 get another train from Sby. So it's quicker.

Anything else?
Nice 2 help u. :)
