Is this possible? Dead Sea -> Petra -> Eilat in a day
Hi there,Could some advise if this is possible. We would like to leave from the dead Sea Resort Ein Boqeq in Israel and then head to Petra in the early morning. Visit Petra then leave for Eilat in Israel.
Has anyone done this before and have any advise?
Many thanks!

Is that possible? Sure.Is it a smart idea? No.
Spending three hours at Petra is like spending 2 minutes in the Louvre. Why in the world would you pay the kind of money it takes to enter the sight only to see a small fraction of it?
You'll be able only to see a very small area of Petra, you should either change your plans or skip it entirely.
Good luck.

The excursion is highly recommended as a 2-day trip from Eilat. Day #1 you'll spend in Petra and day #2 you'll spend at Wadi Rum.Here's how it works best:
Use a local Eilat-based tour operator to make the arrangements. The tour operator will also arrange for your visa to Jordan. You'll be picked up from your Eilat hotel early in the morning on Day #1 (maybe even at 6:30am for instance). You'll be escorted across the border and a Jordanian guide will accompany you and guide you at Petra. Spend the night in Jordan (very good facilities). The next day you'll do a jeep tour in Wadi Rum and the tour will end when your cross the border back into Israel. You should arrive in Eilat at the end of day #2 by around 7pm. You could reasonably take a flight from Eilat to either Tel Aviv's S'de Dov airport or Ben-Gurion Airport that evening. Or you could stay another night in Eilat.

Why do you need a tour operator for this? Easiest to rent a car and drive down to Eilat.7
You need a minimum of two full days to visit Petra. The bare minimum for Petra would be one full day and two nights, and after one day you will still be frustrated because you will be missing much of the site.Israeli tour operators do propose one-day trips to Petra from Eilat but these are classic tourist traps.
