For horseback riding on the way to Yellowstone:

Harriman State Park in Idaho, along the Henry's Fork River, is excellent. Dry Dry Ridge Outfitters runs the horse trips, and you can arrange the length you want. They also offer horse trips in Wyoming. http://www.dryridge.com/ Phone: 208-558-7433

Meadow Vue Ranch at Henry's Lake also offers horse trips. I haven't been on these, but have visited the ranch a couple of times and they seem like a great outfit. Their web site emphasizes their summer camp for kids, but they do have daily trail rides into the mountains. http://www.meadowvueranch.com/

Have fun.

I think i will try the horseback riding in Harriman Park thanks! as far as hotels/motels near yellowstone and teton, are there any cheap ones that possibly have a pool or hot tub so i can relax after a long day of hiking?

Not even the RV campground in Jackson, next to the Grand Teton NP entrance is cheap. Especially not something with a swimming pool or hot tub! I don't think that Gardiner has any motels with swimming pools -- its quite rustic. The lodges next to Old Faithful are expensive.

As an alternative to expensive West Yellowstone, consider Island Park. I'm not sure what places go for in the summer or what the most affordable ones are, but I think somewhere like Pond's Lodge would be nicer and less expensive than anything in West Yellowstone. Similarly, instead of Cody, WY, consider Themopolis where they have hot springs. In Gardiner, consider soaking in the boiling river.

Thanks. Looking to check out Grand Teton Park for 2 days. Any specific places to go or see over there?

There is great hiking in the Grand Tetons. The Jenny Lake trailhead is popular but a very good hike--nice scenery and wildlife. You can take a shuttle across the lake and then start hiking the Cascade Canyon trail.

Of course the scenic views are amazing. The back deck of the Jackson Lake Lodge is a great place to photograph the Tetons, and see elk and moose.

There are a number of whitewater rafting trips out of Jackson if that is of interest. There is a wide range of other outdoor activities depending on what you want to do.

Have fun.
