First time in Japan september-octoberDear Community!
Im a 19 year old girl who's planning a trip to Japan between the 20th of september to the 25th of october.
This is my first time travelling to Japan and note that I'm going alone!
Im planning on staying in Tokyo for about a week, the travel to Osaka and Kobe.
Do you have any good tips for me?
Practical facts that can be usable?
I've almost read the whole lonely planet book and made marks in it and notes, so I know a bit, but it's also good to hear from real experiences from you guys.
I want to expercience everything from history, culture, food, clubbing, and so on.

1If you've read the guide, you should have a good general idea.
Two things I'd say before you go........if you plan on travelling a lot,buy a train pass like the Japan Rail pass...it will pay for itself very quickly(but don't start it until you leave Tokyo).
Then...try to spend some time in smaller places...away from the cities,in the countryside and the mountains...that is where much of Japan's beauty (and traditional culture)lies.
One more thing...if you can learn some basic Japanese phrases that will help you....

3I found traveling in Japan a joy and more or less selfexplanatory. And the Japanese people are helpful.
My tip is to rent a bicycle from time to time. Nara is nice place for cycling and also Arashiyma. You can cycle from Arashiyma to North Kyoto to visit the famous Ryoan temple and the Kinkaku temple. Cycling for a few hours between the rice fields is also fun but I don't know how the rice fields look in September/October.

6I don't know anyone else's experience, but you are not old enough to drink legally here. Hard to say whether they will allow you in.
Very unlikely to be an issue.
OP having read the LP cover to cover, I imagine you have loads of specific questions - they might be more likely to get a response than something so general.
Read back through old posts for itinerary suggestions.

7I agree, Tokyo girl, but you never know. Probably what is more likely is that she will run into clubs that charge 4,000-10,000 yen just to step inside and get a first drink. Heads up.

8Will you be 20 years old by the time you come over ? The official drinking/smoking age in Japan is 20 and many clubs have ID checks and won't let underage people in...
